The G

Known as “The G” to family, anger hangs off of Ann Hunter (Dale Dickey of Leave No Trace and Hell or High Water). As the primary caregiver for her ailing husband despite feeling as though everyone perceives her as a liability, Ann doesn’t have time to sugarcoat anything through her utter exhaustion. When she and her husband are abruptly relocated from their suburban home to a care facility by their legal guardian, Ann is upset and abides by the order. However, when greedy motivations behind the change are revealed, Ann is determined to right some wrongs – by any means necessary. Ann’s journey is surprisingly mirrored by her granddaughter Emma (played with admirable gusto by Romane Denis of Slaxx), who idolizes “The G” and wants redemption for her as well.

The G is a hardboiled cousin to Thelma. Although the results of this genre are less fun and involving than it’s comparable and superior counterpart, filmmaker Karl R. Hearne (Touched) offers a unqiue and practically mastered, take on a crime-noir playbook with a refreshing lead (played well by Dale).

While also comparing The G to grittier work from the Coen Brothers seems a little too on the nose, this efficient indie has certainly been made for those mature movie goers in mind, and will wholeheartedly satisfy that crowd.
