Toronto After Dark 2018: ‘Overlord’

Overlord (DIR. Julius Avery)

American soldiers are dropped into German-occupied France and need to prepare for the D-Day invasion, but they find that the Germans are involved in some messed-up stuff.

Julius Avery’s Overlord is a war film lacking any nuance whatsoever.  Of course, that becomes apparent early on because, despite the classifications of war and horror and sci-fi, this is a brainless action film through and through.  And it’s a damn entertaining one too!  Overlord has great effects, great kills and one of action cinema’s most badass women in recent years.

In short, turn off your brain and enjoy!
