Assassination Nation

Reviewing movies can be such a subjective experience.  Sure, I’m writing about my feelings towards the film and how it affected me, but I also have to keep in mind that an audience – completely different to myself – may engage with it more.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture

It makes sense for David Wain to direct a biopic about Doug Kenney.  The absurdist director of Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models, and Wanderlust works with a special brand of off-beat comedy as Kenney’s National Lampoon brainchild did.  Even though the biopic genre is new ground for Wain, A Futile and Stupid Gesture is still a comedy cut from familiar cloth.

A Merry Friggin’ Christmas

By: Addison Wylie I’ve seen good Christmas movies and I’ve seen bad Christmas movies.  But, outside of those schmaltzy TV movies that play in syndication around the holidays, I don’t think I’ve seen a Christmas movie as strange as A Merry Friggin’ Christmas.  I would say this means Tristram Shapeero’s film is in a league of its own, but that’d be giving the movie too much credit.
