On Fire

On Fire is a lean disaster flick.  The filmmakers know why their audience showed up, and they intend on delivering the goods.  As much as that transparency is a little too obvious, I kind of respect the no-nonsense attitude of this action-thriller.

The Surprise Visit

The Surprise Visit features a small ensemble of actors who seem to be challenging each other.  Only they’re not inspiring each other, they’re competing against each other for who can exaggerate the most.  And director Nick Lyon is letting his cast “duke it out”.
