The LEGO Batman Movie

The genius execution of 2014’s The LEGO Movie offered audiences a creative perspective on their childhood toy, and the financial success of the film practically greenlit any future spin-offs;  including this month’s The LEGO Batman Movie and late-Summer’s The LEGO NINJAGO Movie.  Batman’s ability to steal scenes in The LEGO Movie makes him the perfect candidate to have his own spin-off.  We shall see about the latter come September.

Suicide Squad

Movie theatres have been over-saturated with comic book adaptations, and audiences have been spoiled.  “Spoiled” in two ways: studios want to give movie goers more bang for their buck, but by now, just about everyone is burnt out on these action/adventures.  Part of the reason Marvel’s Deadpool was such a success is because it wasn’t afraid to make fun of itself and reinvent the formula – people appreciated that breath of fresh air.

The Dark Knight Rises

By: Addison Wylie I had to pinch myself a few times during Christopher Nolan’s “epic” finale to his Batman saga entitled The Dark Knight Rises. I had to convince myself that not only was this well-crafted series coming to a close, but I also had to remind myself that I was sitting in a theatre watching one of the most disappointing and frustrating third chapters since The Matrix Revolutions.
